The debate over the rebel flag is a comical one. A war fought a little over 150 years ago should have been over 150 years ago – along with its losers’ flag. It should have been stripped from every flagpole and burned in every town square. Ironically, it flies proudly to this day as an affront to its conquer; us.
Southern pride is a southern sin. If you disagree, you are out of sync with history. The South seceded to defend liberty. There were two definitions of the word at the time, some used the word to mean that each man could do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor. And others used the word liberty meaning for some men to do as they pleased with other men, and the product of their labor. The South chose to defend the definition of the latter.
